Ronnie Gardiner turns 80 on 25 July this year! Ronnie has played with the greatest names in jazz including Dizzy Gillespie, Benny Carter, Gerry Mulligan and Dexter Gordon. He has lived for many years in Sweden and is best known here as the drummer for the Charlie Norman Trio. He has also played in bands such his own Tivoli Band, the critically acclaimed Andreas Pettersson Band and Sliding Hammers.
Ronnie Gardiner now has a room named after him at the Nalen centre in Stockholm, where he hosts live jazz every week. He has also played an important role in promoting young jazz talents through his scholarship fund and by providing opportunities to play live.
Ronnie will play at Ystad Saltsjöbad on 4 August at 14:00 with Deborah Brown and the Andreas Pettersson Quartet.
