Dianne Reeves at Ystad Sweden Jazz Festival 2015!

Dianne Reeves won the Best Jazz Vocal Album Grammy for ”Beautiful Life” at the 57th Grammy Awards on Sunday evening.

Ystad Sweden Jazz Festival is very proud to present one of the world’s best jazz singers, Dianne Reeves, at this summer’s festival!

Dianne Reeves is a virtuoso vocalist whose improvisational prowess glides between jazz and R&B. ‹”Beautiful Life”, her first album in five years, won Reeves her fifth Grammy.

“Life is beautiful, and I wanted to celebrate that which is too often overlooked,” says Reeves about ”Beautiful Life”. The album includes music by names such as Bob Marley, Fleetwood Mac and Marvin Gaye and touches on Latin, R&B and pop.

Dianne Reeves has performed all over the world. In January 2015, she performed at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York with Paul Simon, James Taylor and Bobby McFerrin in a tribute concert to Michael Brecker.”

Dianne Reeves will perform at Ystad Sweden Jazz Festival on Friday 31 July at 23.00 in a concert on the festival’s main stage, Ystads Teater.

Concert tickets and the complete Ystad Sweden Jazz Festival 2015 program will be released on 21 April.

We are planning and preparing a book about the festival’s first five years – and we would like you to be part of it!

We would like to hear from all those who have been a part of the festival experience
 musicians, music lovers, volunteers, journalists
and share your memories, impressions, anecdotes and, not least, photos of all aspects of the festival – on stage, behind the scenes and around town during festival time.

What is your favourite festival memory?

Please send your contribution and photos to: boken@ystadjazz.se by 28 February.

Barn-i-publiken-150x150YSJF in words

Here’s what two visiting journalists said about YSJF 2014:

“With its musical and organizational excellence – plus good vibes from the beauty, antiquity and walkable compactness of the Medieval town of Ystad – this event has reached the exalted ranks achieved by other older, similarly intimate yet worldly jazz festivals.”

– Joe Woodard, Down Beat

“Jazz Journal readers will be aware of my enthusiasm for the Ystad Sweden Jazz Festival, initiated in 2010 by Jan Lundgren and directed and delivered by him in collaboration with the festival’s president, the indefatigable Thomas Lantz – to say nothing of the many volunteers (120 this year) who do so much to help make the festival an especially friendly and enjoyable experience for the visitor.”
